Meet the Staff

Jenn Standish – Center Director

Jenn began her employment at the Eastern 4-H Center in February 2017. Growing up in New York, she loved the outdoors. This love for nature combined with her childhood experiences in Girl Scouts directed her to a career in youth development and education. Jenn received her BS in Environmental Science and MS in Recreation. Jenn brings over 20 years of professional camp and recreation experience to the center. Ellen Sutton

Ellen Sutton – Program Director

Ellen is the Eastern 4-H Center’s Program Director, overseeing all educational programs as well as Summer Camp. She began her career as a Special Education teacher in Memphis, TN and Denver, CO. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Memphis. This role allows her to combine her love for the outdoors with her experience working with young people. Lynn Cabacar

Lynn Cabacar – Administrative Services

Lynn began working at the Eastern 4-H Center in 2012 after a career in community banking. Lynn’s primary responsibilities include maintaining the center’s financial management – invoices, accounts receivable, accounts payable, human resources, payroll, and daily office administrative duties. Samantha Roughton

Samantha Roughton – Food Service Supervisor

Samantha began working at the Eastern 4-H Center in June 2017.  As the food service supervisor, she oversees all aspects of our food service operations. This includes managing full-time and seasonal staff, ensuring that our guests are receiving nutritional food, guests are receiving high-quality customer service, and that all health codes and safety standards are being followed to ensure the safest food preparations. Hunter Rose

Hunter Rose – Rentals and Retreats Director

Wayne Roughton

Wayne Roughton – Facility Maintenance Supervisor

Wayne began working at the Eastern 4-H Center in February 2025.  As the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, he oversees and conducts repairs and improvements to facilities, vehicles, equipment, and other infrastructure at the center. Alfreda Mercer

Alfreda Mercer – Meals on Wheels Cook

Alfreda has been with us since 2019 as our full-time cook for the Elderly Nutrition Program.  This program provides meals to the senior citizen population in Tyrrell, Hyde, and Washington Counties who are signed up through the Albemarle Commission Meals on Wheels program.

Diem Mai

Diem Mai – Meals on Wheels Driver

Diem has been full-time with us since 2014.  He is responsible for helping with the packaging and delivery of the food for our Elderly Nutrition Program.  He delivers food to Tyrrell, Hyde, and Washington Counties so that volunteers can then go out in the community to deliver these meals to the participants of the Meals on Wheels program.
