Specialty Camps

We offer two specialty camps throughout the summer.  These camps allow us to offer a program for younger campers, as well as, opportunities for campers to learn more specific skills in regard to shooting sports & waterfowl conservation.

Cloverbud Camp – Ages 5-7

Cloverbud Camp is the ideal first “stay-away” overnight camp experience for 5 -7-year-olds, designed with a shorter week to introduce this age group to camp without staying away from home for too long. Smaller staff-to-camper ratios provide the young campers with the special attention and care they need. Cloverbud Campers participate in all the “big kid” activities like kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, climbing wall, sports and games, arts and crafts, archery, and our fun evening activities.

Camp Canvasback – Ages 10-17

The Eastern 4-H Center partners with the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission to offer this camp.  This program encourages and educates young hunters on waterfowl conservation. Campers participate in activities that help them understand waterfowl biology, wetland ecology, hunting techniques, and other conservation practices. The camp consists of a multi-year tract, with campers progressing to the next tract the following year to build on previously learned skills. You can start this camp at any time between the ages of 10 – 17 and also graduate to the “vet” status by having proof of your hunter and boater safety courses that are offered by the NC Wildlife Resource Commission. Skills taught during Camp Canvasback include shotgun safety, shooting & firearm care, waterfowl identification, duck blind construction, boat & water safety, and first aid.
